President Maduro Ratifies Commitment to Peace Dialogue in Venezuela

President Nicolás Maduro has ratified his commitment to the peaceful coexistence negotiations the government maintained with opposition factions in the Dominican Republic and will continue in this capital.

'My commitment for the future of Venezuela is with the peace talks. Social justice is only expanded with peace (...), 'the president posted on his Twitter account.

The Venezuelan government and the opposition delegations signed yesterday an agreement with the progress agreed and discussed at the roundtable discussions set up in Santo Domingo.

The representative of the government, Jorge Rodríguez, said the document contains the elements of understanding between the Venezuelan rightwing and the State.

He also stated that the claims of external factors engaged in sabotaging the dialogue aimed at guaranteeing the peaceful coexistence in the South American nation were defeated with the signing of the pre-agreement.

The head of the opposition delegation to the peace talk, Julio Borges, also acknowledged that there are some progress towards a definitive agreement with the national government, according to the Venezuelan News Agency.

The meetings between the parties will continue in the coming 72 hours in Caracas, to make progress in the discussion of the issues that need to be finalized, and tentatively return on Monday to the Dominican Republic to the signature of the final agreement.
