Madonna, the Queen of Pop, is today visiting Havana to celebrate her 58th birthday, landing yesterday with a large group of companions.
According to Granma newspaper, the American singer landed at the 'Jose Marti' international airport and then toured different sites of the city to begin the first day of her visit, which will last until August 18th.
Photographer Steven Klein, and stylists B. Akerlund and Andy Lecompte are accompanying the singer, along with her production team and close friends.
Madonna who is also an actress, producer and songwriter has a 19-year-old daughter, Lourdes Leon, with Cuban, Carlos Leon. He works as a dancer and trainer.
Madonna posted 'Cuba Libre' on her Instagram account to announce her arrival on the Caribbean island.
According to El Pais newspaper, the artist arrived at the Jose Marti airport in a private plane and then moved on to the Saratoga Hotel in a convoy of classic convertible cars.
The hotel, in the historical center of the city, has already hosted music stars such as Beyonce.
'This is the first time in several months that the singer has been seen with her daughter, Lourdes Maria, as she is studying at university,' the newspaper reported.
Madonna is considered an iconic pop figure; so much so that in 2008, the Billboard magazine ranked her second, behind The Beatles, among the top 100 greatest artists of all time.
