The pedagogical faculty of the Hermanos Saiz University of Pinar del Rio (UPR) became a swarm yesterday morning as rejection to the historic blockade imposed to Cuba by the United States.
The day served for the university students to raise their voice with strong criteria in a extraordinary session of the United Nations Model, ONUPinar, an event the institutions celebrates every year and this time was dedicated to denounce the over 50 years of unjust blockade to the Island. Asdrúbal Reina Corvea, president of the University Students Federation of the UPR, said that "from early hours they all starting tweeting their opinions throughout the web and all along the afternoon continued to develop activities such a as colloquiums with economists and Social Science specialists. "This situation has taken its toll on us, among other aspects; it prevents us from having the necessary technology and the acquisition of materials to improve our knowledge. "With these actions we have proved that Cuban youths do fight against the blockade, which we are able to prove the American government that our students cannot be subverted, since we are firmed in our principles, aware of our part to play for the defense of the Homeland, we prove today that we are committed to Fidel and the Revolution". On the other hand, Alejandro Peraza Peña, fouth year Law student, expressed that "we students need to express ourselves against this genocide policy. As a young Cuban born under its consequences, I have seen and witnessed the damage and the losses caused to our country, especially in the economy. Cuban youths all along the Island have ratified again their rejection to the unjust policy raising their voices as support to the Cuban socialist system and to the historic leaders of the Revolution.
