Machado Ventura Highlights Cuban People's Support for Revolution

The second secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, noted the workers' support in Pinar del Rio province for the Revolution, at the end of the parade on the International Workers' Day.

At the end of the parade, which brought together more than 100,000 people in the city of Pinar del Rio, Machado Ventura highlighted the enthusiasm and color of the event, which was celebrated in the rest of the province.

He particularly referred to the large presence of youths, who have been called to continue the revolutionary work done by several generations of Cubans.

Machado Ventura also noted Pinar del Rio's economic achievement, especially the results from the tobacco harvest, which has already produced 30 million 'cujes', prior to the industrial process that turns the leaves into the world-renowned Havana cigars.

The people's presence here today shows their confidence in the Revolution and its future, he pointed out.

The workers' parade lasted nearly three hours and ended in the corner of Jose Marti and Rafael Ferro streets, the same place where the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, was welcomed on January 17, 1959.
