The cultural gala for the 64th anniversary of the assault to Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks was a spectacle that went from tradition to modernity and became a tribute to Pinar del Río.
Several generations of local artists got together and through diverse musical styles showed the rhythmic wealth of the region.
A fine and simple set design favored that the charm of the recently renewed theatre showed its greatness. Under the musical direction of Noel Villar and the general lead of Pepe Ordaz and Dory Mendez, students and professionals harmonically integrated and interpreted popular, traditional and modern songs well received by the attending audience, among which was present estuvo José Ramón Machado Ventura, second secretary of the Party and Ramiro Valdés, hero of the Republic of Cuba and Commander of the Revolution.
Also attending the event was Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, first vice-president of the Councils of State and Ministers, Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Gladys Martínez Verdecia, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Party in the province and Ernesto Barreto Castillo, presindet of the Provincial Assembly, other authorities of the country and the province and a representation of several sectors of the society, as well as participants in the attack to the Moncada and Carlos manuel de cespedes garrisons.
The energy of the deed that took place 64 years ago, became melody, feelings, homage to the fallen, satisfaction for the accomplishments and commitment to the future.
Tobacco, city, rhythm, humbleness, experience, youth, joy and more, joined in the gala, which was evidence that the western part of the country is no longer ignored and has no pejorative names that blind the splendour of this land blessed by nature. So generation after generation, the children of this territory will continue to be the makers of our dreams.
