The unionists of Pinar del Río gathered today at 8:00 in the morning to celebrate the international day of proletarians.
In the main street of the city, over 60 000 workers and relatives got together, following the example of Lázaro Peña, Jesús Menéndez and Aracelio Iglesias, to upraise history in the 56th anniversary of the the Bay of Pigs win, the 55th of the Young Communist League and the 50th of the fall in combat of Ernesto Che Guevara.
Raúl Pita Hialgo, first secretary of the Cuban Workers Federation, stated that “we will always aware of every detail to boost initiatives that contribute to raise the quality of the work, to strengthen education, science, agriculture, sports, culture...
“We, workers, will continue in the first line of combat, in each of the goals proposed, in a restless fight, especially to win this year the venue of the main event for the 26th of July, the year when we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the city”.
Pita Hidalgo encouraged the people to “march in tune with the indisputable love to the Revolution, to freedom and for the Homeland and unity, that is the only way to be efficient and productive, with order and discipline before the new challenges, since we have enough reasons to work and overcome, today, tomorrow and forever, that’s the only way to fulfil the commitment that to dye for the homeland is to live”.
This time, the parade started with constructors, their white helmets led the mass march with which this people once again demonstrates that together, we are invincible.
