Good Tobacco Harvest Season Foreseen in Pinar del Río

The province of Pinar del Rio, greatest tobacco producer of the country, is about to achieve a very good harvest season, which is noted in the positive state of the leaves during the curing stage.

Despite the droughts in the northern part of the territory, the quality is higher than last season, said Virginio Morales Novo, specialist of Tabacuba enterprise in the province.
In addition, the official noted that the harvest area covers 18 245 hectares, a figure that surpasses the sowing plan, while over 24 poles of leaves have been taken to curing barns, out of the 30 million planned for the season.

At present, the authorities of the sector create the conditions to collect binder and filler leaves, works that will contribute to guarantee the production plan of over 19 200 tons.

Watching over the evolution of the plants, the experienced farmers double their efforts in order to maintain the name of the Cuban cigars among the best of the world industry, this time favored by the weather conditions.
