President Evo Morales has traveled to Cuba today to undergo surgery that will remove a small nodule from the left vocal cord.
Morales departed from the second air base in Cochabamba at midnight, after transferring the command to Vice President, Alvaro Garcia Linera.
'We have a lot of confidence in ourselves and in doctors to quickly recover health,' the head of State said at the event, where several ministers, lawmakers, departmental officials and Air Force members were present.
Morales explained that the operation was initially scheduled for April 7th or 8th, but after having overcome a viral condition, doctors decided to overtake it for this week.
The president said the surgery will last from 10 to 15 minutes, and then he should comply with medical recommendations to overcome this problem.
He thanked all the messages of strength, the prayers from different churches and families for his speedy recovery.
The president traveled accompanied by Minister of the Presidency, Rene Martinez.
Health Minister, Ariana Campero, stated that after the surgery, the head of State should rest for four or five days.
